The TSA has made recommendations that are incorrect and unfair to Lewisham .They say that the services provided by A/E and the Maternity Unit can be delivered by neighbouring hospitals . If they are closed lives will be put at risk . At present Maternity units are working at capacity plus , and by their nature have peaks and troughs, if all baby’s came on a predetermined delivery slot it might work but that is not in the real world .The travel times to the other hospitals are 1 hour plus and involve 2/3 buses . The TSA has not considered traffic correctly and journey times .This is about scaling down services and effiency and is happenning throughout the country .
