Model motion in support of campaign

If you are a member of a union, please raise this model motion in your branch.  As well as mandating your branch to donate money and join the campaign, it requests that you ‘adopt a ward’.

Model Motion – Save Lewisham Hospital

Donation information is here

The wards under threat of closure so far include: A&E, paediatrics inpatients, emergency medicine, emergency surgery, maternity and the Intensive care unit.

When your branch has chosen which ward they would like to adopt, send an e-mail to: lewishamhospitalworkers@gmail.com and we will arrange for a member of staff to meet you on the ward when you deliver your message of support.  The messages will be put in the ward communication book (to be read out at the beginning of each shift) or put on the notice board at the nurses station.  This sends a strong message to the staff that they are not alone and have a huge level of support from the trade union movement and community locally.

I have lived in lewisham borough nearly all my life. I have relied on lewisham hospital for support throughout that time; when my son was born, when i had a serious motorbike accident, when my ring needed to be cut off, my mum died there, my father was there until shortly before he died, i went when i thought i had cancer, my grandchildren were born there, when my son had scalding fat thrown in his face, my father in law died there, my mother in law was there until just before she died, my mum was taken to a&e when she had serious falls. This is my hospital. It should be cherished not diminished. I would like to say a big thankyou to all those staff that have supported my family through thick and thin over many years. This is our hospital. If you need support ask, we will all be there for you
